These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a binding agreement between you ("Client," "you") and CabinetCraft Japan ("Company," "we," "us"). By engaging our services, requesting a consultation, or submitting a project inquiry through our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Scope of Services
CabinetCraft Japan provides custom kitchen design, cabinet manufacturing, and installation services. Our services include initial consultation, 3D design rendering, material specification, manufacture of cabinetry in our Shibuya workshop, and on-site installation. Specific scope for each project is documented in a formal Project Agreement executed prior to commencement of work.
Services explicitly do NOT include structural modifications, electrical work, plumbing work, tiling, or other trades unless specified in writing and priced separately in the Project Agreement.
2. Consultation and Quotation
Initial consultations are provided free of charge. During consultation, we assess your space, discuss your needs, and provide a preliminary cost estimate. Formal quotations are valid for 30 days from the date issued. After 30 days, quotations may be revised to reflect material cost changes or design modifications.
Quotations are non-binding proposals until a signed Project Agreement is executed. Receipt of a quotation does not commit either party to proceed with the project.
3. Project Agreement and Payment Terms
Upon mutual agreement to proceed, we will provide a detailed Project Agreement specifying the total project cost, payment schedule, timeline, materials, and specifications. A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total project cost is required to confirm the project and commence design and manufacturing.
Remaining payment of 50% is due upon completion of installation. We accept bank transfer and credit payment. If project completion is delayed due to client-requested changes or actions, additional costs may apply. Prices include cabinetry, installation labour, and hardware as specified; other costs (permits, plumbing, electrical, appliances) are the client's responsibility unless expressly stated in the Project Agreement.
4. Design Process and Approvals
Following deposit payment, our design team will prepare detailed 3D renderings and material specifications for your review. You are invited to request revisions or modifications at this stage—design changes are included at no additional cost until formal sign-off. Once you approve the design in writing, we proceed to manufacturing.
Post-approval design changes incur a change fee of ¥15,000 per modification plus material upcharges. We recommend thorough review and approval before manufacturing commences.
5. Manufacturing Timeline
Standard manufacturing timeline is 6–8 weeks from design approval. Complex or bespoke projects may require 8–12 weeks. The exact timeline will be specified in the Project Agreement. We will notify you of any delays due to material sourcing or unforeseen circumstances as soon as practicable.
Client-initiated delays (e.g., requests to hold production, changes to installation date) do not extend the contract timeline; revised schedules will be agreed in writing with potential storage fees if cabinetry cannot be held at our workshop beyond 60 days post-completion.
6. Installation and Handover
Installation is typically completed within 3–7 working days depending on project complexity. Our installation team will coordinate directly with you to schedule installation dates and access to your property. You are responsible for ensuring the installation site is clear and ready on the agreed date. Additional costs apply if installation is postponed by the client.
Following installation, we conduct a walk-through with you to ensure all elements are functioning correctly, finishes are acceptable, and you understand care and maintenance. Minor adjustments and fine-tuning are included. We will provide you with warranty documentation and maintenance guidelines at handover.
7. Warranty and Post-Installation Support
All cabinetry and workmanship are covered by a 10-year manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. The warranty covers cabinet box integrity, door/drawer alignment, hardware functionality, and finish durability under normal use. The warranty does NOT cover damage from negligence, misuse, environmental extremes, or modifications made outside our workshop.
We provide one complimentary maintenance visit within 12 months of installation to assess the kitchen and make minor adjustments. Additional maintenance visits are billed at ¥20,000 per visit plus travel time.
8. Client Responsibilities
The client is responsible for ensuring site access, utilities (water, electricity) are available and functioning, and that the installation space is cleared of obstructions. The client is also responsible for arranging and paying for any necessary construction permits, HOA approvals, or building modifications required by local building codes that fall outside standard kitchen installation.
The client must maintain the cabinetry according to care instructions provided at handover. Failure to do so may void portions of the warranty. The client is responsible for damage caused by exposure to excessive heat, humidity, water, or chemical agents.
9. Changes and Cancellation
Changes requested after design approval will incur a change fee plus material upcharges. Cancellation of a project after deposit is paid is non-refundable. If cancellation occurs after manufacturing has commenced, the client remains responsible for all materials purchased and labour invested; payment of the full project cost is required upon completion regardless of whether installation proceeds.
If CabinetCraft Japan must cancel a project due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control (e.g., catastrophic workshop damage), the client will receive a full refund of all payments made.
10. Limitation of Liability
CabinetCraft Japan's maximum liability for any claim arising from these Terms or project engagement is limited to the total amount paid by the client under the Project Agreement. We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including lost profits or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
These limitations apply to all claims, whether based on warranty, contract, negligence, strict liability, or any other legal theory.
11. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of Japan. Any disputes arising from this agreement shall first be subject to good-faith negotiation between the parties. If negotiation fails, disputes may be submitted to mediation or arbitration as agreed by both parties, or pursued through the appropriate courts of Tokyo, Japan.
12. General Provisions
This agreement constitutes the entire understanding between you and CabinetCraft Japan regarding the services provided. Any prior agreements, conversations, or understandings not in writing are superseded by these Terms and the Project Agreement. We reserve the right to update these Terms from time to time; continued engagement with our services following changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. No waiver of any term or condition is valid unless made in writing and signed by an authorized representative of CabinetCraft Japan.
